Inside GETPSC: Revolutionizing Solar Modules with Graphene Innovation
GraphEnergyTech is excited to announce a game-changing collaboration with Taiwan Perovskite Solar Corporation, Taiwan’s esteemed Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the University of Cambridge. Together, we’re launching GETPSC – Graphene Electrode Technology for Perovskite Solar Cells – a bold 2-year project set to redefine solar energy.
At its heart, GETPSC is all about harnessing the power of graphene to transform solar technology by fostering the industrialization of perovskite solar cells. Our proprietary graphene electrodes are poised to replace the traditional, costly metal electrodes found in nearly all solar cells today. Graphene not only offers superior chemical stability and cost-effectiveness but also supports a more sustainable future – especially as research warns that global silver reserves could run dry by 2050. The four partners will work together to advance solar technology by developing commercial perovskite solar modules, based on Taiwan Perovskite Solar Corporation’s technology, integrating GraphEnergyTech’s graphene electrodes.
This innovative project has secured an £884,129 grant from Innovate UK. Out of this, GraphEnergyTech will receive £591,250 while the University of Cambridge will be allocated £292,879. With a total project value of £1,137,522 in the UK, GETPSC underscores our commitment to creating commercially viable, next-generation solar modules. Our partnership also leverages Taiwan’s semiconductor industry to address the challenges of scaling cost-effective manufacturing.
Our collaboration builds on a legacy of innovation. Co-founded by visionary leaders – Professor Michael Grätzel of EPFL and Professor Andrea Ferrari of the University of Cambridge Graphene Centre – GraphEnergyTech is redefining what’s possible in renewable energy. In 2024, we raised £1 million in a round led by Aramco Ventures, further fueling our drive to revolutionize solar technology as well as applications in printed electronics, batteries, super capacitors, LED lighting, and displays.
Join us as we push the boundaries of sustainable energy, creating solutions that are efficient, affordable, and kinder to our planet.
